The Company specializes in the development, management and analysis of programs that support clinical development - from compound selection to Phase I-IV clinical studies. During the year ended December 31, 2010, the Company operated in 73 locations in 39 countries, providing Phase I-IV clinical trial management, drug development support services, data management and biostatistical, central laboratory, imaging and contract staffing services. On January 14, 2011 the Company acquired 80% interest Oxford Outcomes Limited, an international health outcomes consultancy with offices in the United States and Canada. On May 17, 2010 the Company acquired Timaq Medical Imaging AG. In July 2011, the Company acquired Firecrest Clinical.

(PDL) is engaged in the management of its antibody humanization patents and royalty assets, which consist of its Queen et al. patents and license agreements with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. The Company receives royalties based on these license agreements on sales of a number of humanized antibody products marketed and also may receive royalty payments on additional humanized antibody products launched before final patent expiry in December 2014.
